This is great fun, I like how it can be re shaped for different styles. If I ever learn to crochet I will give it a go!

Hayley

What a beautiful hat, think i'll make this for my summer holidays!

Sandra

Love this hat will try my hand at it thank you.

Rin

This is so cute! Thank you for working it up and sharing the pattern. The lovely lady I'd like to make this for is very prone to sunburn, sometimes through her hair and certainly where it parts in the center. Do you have any recommendations on how to make the crown less open? I haven't tried to crochet a hat before.

Kristen Stoltzfus Clay

Hi Rin - Sure, you can make it with a closed crown, though you may have to do some experimenting. Start with a chain 2, then work 3 sc in the 2nd chain. Keep working rounds of sc, working 2 sc in the same stitch as often as needed to make the circle but keep it slightly cupped. You may have to guess from looking at the picture when you are at the equivalent of Round 4 on the written pattern, which you should make sure has the same stitch count as Round 4, so that when you start the blue part on the crown it will come out right. Good luck!
